Smart Maintenance Tracker

Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 24, 2026

Smart Maintenance Tracker ("we", "our", "the app"), published by Yotta Design, LLC, helps you track maintenance schedules, service history, and costs for the vehicles, homes, and other things you own. This page explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how it's stored and used. It applies to the web app and the iOS app.

Information we collect

  • Account information: your name, email address, and a securely hashed password (we never store your password in plain text).
  • Item information: for vehicles, make, model, year, VIN, and mileage; for homes, property type, name, and year built; plus any photos you choose to upload.
  • Service history: maintenance records you add or mark complete, including notes, dates, mileage, and any photos attached to that record.
  • Usage information: login timestamps and visit counts, used only to understand basic app usage and to help us support your account.
  • Push notification subscription: if you enable reminders, your browser's push subscription endpoint, so we can deliver maintenance reminders to your device.
  • Feedback you submit through the in-app Feedback form.

How we use it

We use your information solely to operate the app: to show you your own items and maintenance schedules, to send reminders you've opted into, and to improve the app based on feedback. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising. Smart Maintenance Tracker doesn't run ads and doesn't use your data for cross-app or cross-site tracking.

Where it's stored

Account and item data is stored in Google Cloud (Firestore) in the United States. Photos are stored in a Google Cloud Storage bucket; photo files are reachable only by their unique, unguessable URL and are not listed publicly or indexed. Reasonable technical safeguards are in place, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

Third parties we share data with

  • NHTSA vPIC API: when you decode a VIN, the VIN itself is sent to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's public vehicle-lookup API. No personal or account information is included in that request.
  • Anthropic API: for vehicles outside our built-in maintenance catalog, we may send the vehicle's make, model, year, and powertrain (never your name, email, or account details) to Anthropic's API to look up typical maintenance intervals. Results are cached so this happens at most once per vehicle profile.
  • Push notification delivery: if you enable reminders, your browser's or device's push service (for example Apple's, Google's, or Mozilla's push relay) is used to deliver notifications, as is standard for push on any app.

Your choices

  • You can edit or delete any item, service record, or photo you've added at any time.
  • You can turn reminder notifications on or off, and choose how far ahead you're reminded, from Settings.
  • You can delete your account and all of its data yourself at any time from Settings → Delete account in the app (see Delete your account). To request a copy of your data instead, use the App Support form.

Children's privacy

Smart Maintenance Tracker is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Smart Maintenance Tracker after a change means you accept the updated policy.
