Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about how we work, what our plans include, and how websites, web apps, and mobile apps help small businesses grow.

Getting started

How long does it take to get a website?

About three weeks from idea to live website. In week 1 we discuss your goals and do the prep work, in week 2 we design and configure the site to your liking, and in week 3 we finalize the content and go live.

What do your plans include?

Starter covers a responsive, mobile-friendly, SEO-friendly website with self-service content management. Standard adds content creation, delegated content management, social media integration, and professional headshots. Professional adds ongoing search engine optimization, ultra-fast hosting, Google Analytics, and monthly reports. Think of the plans as a starting point: we tailor a custom solution to fit your business. See the starter plans.

Do you build more than websites?

Yes. We design and build custom web applications and native iOS and Android apps, from customer portals and booking systems to dashboards, internal tools, and full products. If you already have a Yotta Design website, we can add app features such as logins, payments, bookings, and integrations without a rebuild. Learn about web and mobile apps.

Which kinds of businesses do you work with?

We build for small businesses across many industries, including medical professionals, restaurants and bakeries, government contractors, realtors, lawyers and attorneys, beauty salons, spas and barbershops, and home improvement contractors. See industry solutions and our work.

Cost and value

Is a website an expense or an investment?

An investment. Your website is a 24/7 salesperson that promotes your business even when you are asleep, and the revenue from the new customers it brings is worth far more than the cost. You can estimate your own return with the website ROI calculator.

Why is there a monthly plan instead of a one-time price?

Monthly plans make budgeting predictable instead of surprising you with update and maintenance costs later, and they include regular website updates so your content stays fresh and relevant.

Why do you do SEO every month?

Search engine optimization is like fitness: going to the gym once does not give lasting results. Continuous optimization leads to continuous success, which is why ongoing SEO is part of our Professional plan.

Can't I build it myself, or hire someone cheaper?

You can, but a DIY site often looks unprofessional and can damage your brand's credibility. Good web design also involves user experience, search engine optimization, and design trends, so the site is easy to navigate and set up to attract customers.

Is a social media page enough?

No. Your own website is a digital home that you own, with full brand control, 24/7 availability, your own data, and the ability to rank on Google. Social media works best alongside your website, not instead of it. Read why.

Search, content, and reputation

What is SEO and why does my business need it?

Search engine optimization (SEO) helps people find your business on Google. A website without SEO is like a beautiful business on an undiscovered side street; SEO puts you on the main boulevard of the internet, where the crowds will easily find you. Learn about SEO and growth.

Do you provide headshots, video, and graphic design?

Yes. If you are within a reasonable travel distance, we take up to 10 professional headshots for you and your team as part of the package. We also offer graphic design (logos, banners, signs, business cards) and personalized video messages from professional actors. See content, video, and brand.

How does the QR-code review system work?

We create a unique QR code for your business that you can show in-store, on receipts, or by email. Customers scan it and give feedback on their experience. Happy customers are directed to leave a 5-star Google review, while dissatisfied customers give feedback privately, and anonymously if they prefer, so you can fix problems and keep their loyalty. Do you offer online shopping, business email, and Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace?

Yes. Our additional services include online shopping (product catalog, online payment, POS integration, and Clover, Toast, or Stripe setup), Microsoft 365 for business, and Google Workspace for business, including email for employees, data migration, cloud storage, and online meetings.

Apps and your account

How do I get help with one of your apps?

Use the support form on our App Support page. Choose the app and what you need, and we aim to reply within 2 business days. Each app's page also has its own FAQ, privacy policy, terms, and account deletion page.

Where do customers sign in to see their account?

Yotta Design customers can sign in at portal.yottadesign.com to see their domain details and website insights.
